crankshaft to a/t mounting question

hello all-

I am mating my rebuilt motor up to my '91 4runner auto. I noticed on my new crank (from '03 donor motor) that there is a bearing in the middle...?

Could that be because my donor motor was out of a manual 5 speed?

Here is what the "nub" on my transmission looks like. It seems as though that would go back and fit behind where that bearing is...

When I removed the original motor I didn't see one and it looked as tho those two mated together well.

Here is

Well it looks like it's time for a manual swap!

The input shaft on a manual slips into the pilot bearing in the end of your crank. Since your bolting it up to a automatic you don't need it. Remove the pilot bearing and the "nub" should slide into it's spot.

Are you doing a 3.4 swap into your 91?

That would be a pilot bearing for a manual trans. Remove the pilot bearing, and the converter fills the void when its all bolted together.

You said the motor is from a 2003? So..that means you are doing a 3.4 swap then?
