Craigslist- K&N
well i found a K&N on craigslist for $40,
supposed to be for a 22re, so i figured id get it.
well i picked it up and the tubes came with it, airbox,
and MAF. they looked all wrong for a 22re, looked like
maybe for a 3.0. not sure.
but looking at the MAF is says "Filtercharger performance injection kit"
well the guy told me it came off a 22re 89' 4runner, but he didnt
have it anymore.
I have an 87' runner so i swapped the MAF and my truck could
barely idle with it on. well i opened the airbox and let it sit while idleing
and it seemed to do better, but not much.
with the K&N MAF my truck hesitates, barely idles, and wont
get past 3000 rpms. and it seems to backfire or something.
i have the stock MAF back on and now im curious if it would be better
to tinker with the new one or find out if its better to just get rid of it.
i read you can adjust the MAF leaner or richer, good, bad idea?
here are the pics, to me it looks like something from a v6
but idk if the air tubes changed in the 22re's in the 90's or something.

That definately is a 22re airbox...and that long tube is just the stock air tube, I don't know about the MAF though with the filter charger written on it, is it just a sticker?

ive just never seen the second skinny tube that goes along with the
big air tube, nor have i ever seen that black box with the tube coming out
of it, unless my 87' is missing something.
but yeah, its a sticker, it looks like you pop the black cover off the MAF and
put in the K&N MAF and seal it back up or maybe it was a sticker the
previous owner stuck on there, and thats the stock MAF for a different year, which doesnt seem to work in my truck to well.
any ideas where the extra tubes came from? and the black box? the box seems to be empty, but i havent messed with it yet.
