Hey I have a 86 Toyota pickup and I noticed that there was coolant leaking from what looks like the head gasket. Is this an indication of a blown head gasket? There was a Smokey color under the oil nozzle but I think it’s because the coolant is leaking into the dip stick. Thanks for the help!!!
If you have coolant leaking there it is either a cracked head, cracked block or head gasket leak, you should hope for a head gasket! Only you can verify that #1 that is coolant and #2 that it is coming from between the head and block, not spraying from that tube or leaking from the freeze plug.
I had a 88 pickup with the 22r in it that leaked coolant from the head gasket in that area. I drove the truck for a long time with it like that, just top off the coolant every once in a while. Two things stand out to me in this picture.
1st- the head looks very clean in comparison to the block. It seems the head gasket has been previously replaced.
2nd- If the gasket is leaking there it is likely corrosion around the coolant ports on the head that's allowing coolant to seep out. So most likely will need a new head to correct this problem.
