Cone conversion parts
ok so i want to do this for the sake using a dry element filter that will be better suited for the dusty conditions where i spend much of the year. My question is, what adapter did you guys use to attach the cone filter to the VAF sensor? I have done this conversion before on a different vehicle and did a cold air/ram air style, so i have an idea of what all goes into it, i just need to do it. I was also planning on doing the ISR mod while i was in there as well.
this is the filter that i would like to use.

this is a conversion i did for my friends crown-vic, ex-state patrol car.
with the shield, it pulls air from behind the headlight.

I am going to try and do a little bit cleaner job next time, but it will basically the same idea.

ok, but i want to be able to use a high performance filter that is not a k&n. I used to have one in my dirt bike and i will never put one back in any of my vehicles. Are there other performance filters that will go in the stock air box that can filter the way that AEM does and still flow well? IDK.

I switched from the open air element one back to the stock air box set up. The stock one is basically a cold air intake. Our trucks arent high performance. Stock is just fine.
Are all those wires on that fender for the strobes? Getto wiring. lol.

Hahaha yeah those were for temporary wiring for fog lights. He has since revised his wiring situation. And the reason it looks like a Ford engine is because it is!!! It is is in a Ex-State Patrol Crown Vic.

why did you switch back exactly? Did it make less power? did you do anything to shield the open filter from engine heat or was it just out in the open?

The stock set up is golden, sucks air up right from the headlight, just do the ISR mod and you are set.
I did do a set up like the one you are talking about on my old car, 98 lumina, it worked well. haha.
Just my 0.02.
