Compression Question

My sons 1993 Yota Pickup 22RE overheated the other night and quit running on him while driving it. He said he never saw the temp gauge go up and didnt catch it in time. The hose on the firewall came loose and dumped the antifreeze. Pulled the truck home and put some antifreeze in it and started it up. Ran fine and temp came up to normal and no issues. Took it for a drive and about 10 minutes later the idle starts surging up and down. Temp never got too high. Got it home again and checked compression.

#1 150 PSI
#2 150 PSI
#3 180 PSI
#4 155 PSI

Where do I go from here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like the surging idle could be caused by air trapped in the cooling system, which is a common problem with the 22re.

150 vs. 180 is a pretty big disparity.

monitor for antifreeze and oil exchange.

also maybe this would be helpful: https://www.google.com/search?newwin...79.kEGjKDHUXEc
