compresion questions
#1
i own a 86 4runner 22re and it won't start, so i tested everything and got it down to the compression. chiltons said its supposed to be at 171 or 80% of that. My truck was way lower than that so i poured a lttle oil to see if the compression got any better and it did. well i dont really have the time or the money to rebuild my engine until summer rolls around so a buddy of mine suggested to pur oil in all 4 cylinders till the compression is good and it would start. is this true or will i end up blowing up the engine?

also, forgot to mention this. before my car died it sounded like it was choking it off, could it have anything to do with a clogged exhaust? i dont even know if my exhaust is clogged, i havent looked because I didnt think it would keep the car from cranking.

Lack of fuel? Check fuel filter and pressure. See if the plugs are fouled from oil,, if you are leaking down that much compression. You 'can' get Oil Foulers to go on your spark plugs. I have never run any , so I have no experience with them. It is recommended that the Oil Foulers be run on only half the plugs in the engine.
By cranking, do you mean it will not turn over at all with the starter,, or does the starter turn the engine and the engine doesn't fire?
