Just changed my clutch on my 92 4runner. Could be the clutch design but it now catches really low. Decided to change the clutch master and slave cylinder. Still catches low but occasionally when you depress the clutch it sticks to the floor. I've checked for leaks, bled system multiple times and no air is showing up. Any ideas??

Guess I could put another new master. Wouldn't be the 1st time I got a poorly made new part.....

 

Check the clutch pedal bracket for cracks. It's a common problem on these trucks. Push the clutch in and out with your hand while looking to see if the bracket flexes anywhere. A flashlight will help. If it's cracked, there are quite a few threads here that will tell you how to fix it.

 

Check the bracket for sure, but if it's ok, don't be afraid to lengthen the adjustment rod a bit to get the pedal travel where it should be. That's what the adjustment is for.

 

I will definitely check the bracket. Won't have a chance to check it till next weekend but at least I have something new to look for! I have 285k so wouldn't surprise me if that bracket is wore out.

 

Ok so the clutch bracket isn't cracked. I fully adjusted the clutch till there literally is 1 thread holding on and is still catching right at the floor. I measured how much travel I get out of the slave cylinder. Just over 1/4 inch of travel which seems very little to me. There is no air in the system. I know this for sure.
