I put bucket seats from a '90s SR5 pickup (same as 4Runner seats) in my '88 standard cab pickup that had a bench seat. Basically, the threaded holes were already there, but the 89-95 seats have taller mounts and the mounting holes were slightly off. I ended up drilling out the two rear mounts at the rivets and bolting in the rear mounts from a set of 84-88 bucket seats. That lowered the seat by a couple of inches. The slight height difference was quite noticeable to me, but I am tall. I also noticed that the bucket seats do not go back as far as the bench seat, but I have enough room. If you are really tall it might not work well unless you have an extended cab. I also remember reading that some 4Runner seats have a shorter rail on the passenger side, but I believe that is only on 84-88 4Runners.
