Clutch master cylinder is making noise.. help please

Hi all,

My clutch master cylinder is squeaking and popping about half the time it is used. The sound happens when it's pressed to the floor and on it's way back up. I'm not losing any fluid, but I'm keeping a close eye on it. I'm positive that it's the MC and not the pedal assembly, because I've already taken the assembly apart and it looked good.

I've tried bleeding the MC and SC using the pump and "looking for air bubbles in a bottle" method with an assistant while opening and closing the SC valve.

Any suggestions?

I also noticed that when I popped the boot on the MC where the push rod moves through, part of the push rod was touching the metal hole in the MC. Could this be an indication that the push rod is not centered properly in the MC? If it is not centered properly, could this be a problem and accelerate failure?

TIA,

Troy

I was wondering if you found or fixed the problem you were having with the Master Cylinder clicking or groaning.

My 1992 is experiencing the same thing.

Yes, I did fix it by replacing it with a new MC. Make sure you bench bleed the MC and get all the air out of the hydraulic lines.
