What would be causing my 86 4runners clutch to let out really low almost to the floor? I can drive it like it is but my wife can't seem to do it and its causing problems. Is there any way to adjust it up higher or is there most likely something I need to check and possibly replace.

 

Have you checked anything yet? Clutch pedal bracket? Fluid? Master? Slave? Etc?

The fluid is good on everything I am trying to adjust the bracket but its not wanting to move lol.

 

No more ideas I can't afford to start replacing parts, hoping they'll fix it how do you test the slave and master cylinder to make sure they're working?

 

Try this (and this should eliminate the bracket issue):
Come to a stop on a flat area with no traffic around, push and hold the clutch in, put the stick in 1st, and now wait. If the clutch eventually starts to grab and the truck starts to move it's a hydraulic issue where you are loosing pressure(and personnally I'd lean toward a master cylinder as I've replaced them 3 to 1 compared to my slave over 186k miles) if it doesn't start to move it could be hydraulic or mechanical.

The last Master Cylinder rebuild kit I got from the dealer was about $29, you can get a whole rebuilt master from advance auto or pepboys for like $39, and I think Wabbit sells them on here as well for the same price if not cheaper.

Slaves are roughly the same price maybe a few dollars less. All told you can replace the whole hydraulic system for under $100. There really isn't anyway to test these things. You could try to disassemble the master and inspect the diaphram but who's to say it doesn't get a burr in it on reassembly and now you ruin a perfectly good part.

 

Well I Installed a Centerforce Stage 2 kit in it when I did the rebuil I am gonna replace the master cylinder and see if that makes a difference as of right now it just doesn't wantto go into reverse.
