cleaning my engine

Can pressure washing the whole underneath of my hood do any damage? Its so dirty and oily its ridiculous. Is there a good cleaning agent I could use?

ive done it in the past with motors. i would be selective where i spray tho. stay away from direct blasts on electronics and hose joints but i think you can spray it down pretty good. dont have 10 bucks for a new belt? if you have that much oil and grease on your motor i would look for leaks.

no i drove it with the oil cap off, dont ask me why...thats my buisness not yours. but hmm maybe I could just get another belt. ill try spraying it down then buying another belt, and the screaming seems to be a/c related when I turn it on it starts singing then when its off it kinda quiets down, do you know what that could be?

if you got oil on the belt it definatly be that, it starts squeeling more because the pully on the pump is no longer free wheeling when you turn the ac on. changing the belt should handle the problem for you. lol dont worry about the oil cap i did that the day i got my truck lol had to stuff a glove in the whole to get it over to napa to get a cap...
