Has anyone done this or know if this will work? I have access to jeep coils very easily and next to nothing as far as cost goes and was wondering about this! I have been reading about the Zuk mod for leaf springs and my mind started racing! Please let me know.

Not really much of a jeep person, I dont know about them. But i could've swore jeeps were leafed in the rear, and the fronts are very close coiled. so I dont think they'll work.

Though, an alternative solution would be to used FJ80 or FZJ80 stock rear coils. They can be had for extremely cheap and they lift it about 3".

I don't think the diameter is right so it would probably take some fabrication and not be worth it in the end. If you were thinking front springs off a cherokee those are designed to support the weight of a heavy 4.0 so I definitely wouldn't go that route. If you used rear ZJ (? Grand Cherokee ?) springs I think you'd end up with the exact same height.

As Mak said, go with FJ80 springs if you are doing a junkyard lift. They fit fine and are tried and tested already. I have some in the back of my truck right now that I got for $40 for the pair, not a bad price...

it will work just depends on the mounting if you are fabbing your own. i have 4in cherokee lift coil springs on front of my 91 xcab v6. they where about 21-22 in uncompressed then went to 14-15in loaded with the weight. never realized how heavy toyotas are. but works great. ive seen 4runner rigs where im from using tj coils which have less spring rates.

All great ideas. I have a jeep jk that i have built and am just bored with it. Every where i look there is a jk and i hate being like everyone else. I have tricked it out and it is still like everyone elses! I am getting rid of it and building the 4runner. I have a fresh paint job bj spacers as well as coil spacers on it. I want to get rid of coil spacers, turn torsion bars and put on some 33/10.50 bfg mt. I have done away with sway bar and looking for the next step. Thx for any and all suggestions. Once jeep payment is gone i can do a lot more.

HAHAHA! That's hilarious. But isn't a zuk mod exactly that? Chevy 63"s is the abomination.
But it goes "built, not bought".

the zuk mod is for when you have worn out leaf springs and put the coil between the bump stops. Your 4runner already has coils so either buy new ones for stock height or get some FJ80 ones for a lift.
