hmmm..... well i had fixed the power wire going to the starter.... and had just stuck a lil dinky wire on the end... the truck started, but did seem to be a lil slow.. well after i had checked EVERY thing.. i looked at that wire and said what do i have to loose.. so i went and got a bigger wire and put it on.... and it went vroooom... faster then it had been starting.. so i then went to the battery and did the redneck test... i pulled the posative terminal and it was still purring.... i then proceeded to jump up and down with joy.. as i have been ing with this thing for 5 months off and on.. would work on it and get mad, so i would give up... so im not sure really what the starter has to do with the charging.. but its charging now just as its saposta.. wooot woot.. but now as the snow is flying here... i think im going to let it set for another 5 month's now.. as its rust free and no since in driven it it the salt if its been sitting this long....

My friend had two bad alternators in a row from a part store. He got a higher output alt and the truck wouldnt charge. We got the exact alt for the truck and it worked fine. Just what ive seen and I dont no much about this topic so dont take my word in to high esteam.

about how long was it from the time you "fixed" the wire on the starter and when the alternator stopped charging because my starter was loose and wobbling around.. so i did the obvious thing.. tightened it up.. and the same day i had to roll-start my truck.. and then it gave up after i got in my driveway.. since then i have checked every inch of the charging system and came up with nada.. im going to check the starter first thing in the morning
