Carburator

So my stock carb has been running like at 800 RPM idle... For some reason AFTER I drive it and AFTER the engine is warm, it idles at 2,000 (Cold Idle Speed) and the only way to get it to stop, is to downshift to first and keep the clutch in til it almost dies like four times, or rap it out to 6,000 RPM in first gear... Also when its doing this high idle bull crap it diesels when I shut it off, and its annoying as hell.. So I'm not messin around with a smogged up 23 year old piece of crap carburator, I'm getting a Weber.. Either the 32/36 or the 38... What I want to know is does the 38 make your milage that much worse? I don't mind losing 1-2 MPG... And I'll have a header and a mild cam to complement it.. Otherwise I'll get the 32/36..

I only want answers from people who have actually owned, ran, and used a Weber 32/36, or 38 carb. Thanks guys!

Don't think it should hurt too much, but what do I know, I've never done it.
