Carb question
#1
so i bought a 87 pickup xtra cab today and the guy i bought it from said it was running a lil rich and suggested i get a new carburetor. should i go with a rebuilt kit or a whole new one?

for me, a rebuilt (not necessarily new) would be the best option. I tried to rebuild a carb once and it didn't come out well. If you have a nice working facility that won't "eat" lots of tiny parts, a rebuild kit may work for you.

i would not buy a new carb unless its oem, but im sure u know that, ive never rebuilt one of these carbs, but im sure i will some day since mine is carbed, a 87 as well, it cant be that hard....
like dude said, bag n tag all those small parts, and buy lots of carb cleaner, soak it for a few houres after u take it all apart, and than have fun, ive rebuilt lots or hollys, webers, dellorto, edelbrock & carters etc etc, its not that hard, usually.
Also if your at it, have it rebushed(if needed), u will most likey have to take it to a shop for this.
Good luck
