cannot clear engine codes
THIS PROBLEM IS RESOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
******** PLEASE READ*********The only advise that I can give is when you do a RE to RTE swap be sure you know everything about the swap. Have all your wiring done meaning wiring connectors fixed and EVERYTHING. 1 of the wires in the automatic with digital dash harness needed to be changed for my 5sp truck with an analog dash (understatement) There are alot of wires that need to be changed but 1 at a time this truck will become a beast. ************************************************** ************************************************** **********
Ok after my 22rte swap I have had several obstacles. 1st my tps was bad, which I think I may have got another bad one but anyways. I am getting 2 codes 2 / 8 and I have ohmed the wires to the ecu/ checked the intake temp sensor and I cannot seem to trace this down. Now it could be that I am just getting really irritated with this thing and looking over something simple. Any ideas. My main problem with this thing is its running really rich and of course its effecting my driveability. I had to pretty much go through the main engine harness and fix almost all the connectors just to get the truck to run. Replaced the tps and now it drives. And now my curent issue is when I stop at a light it will puff out about $5.00 in gas for about 30sec then smooth out. It runs rough at idle and sputters under acceleration just like the tps is out of adjustment. Thats why I think the new tps is out of adjustment.

2 and 8 both have the same possible causes- AFM, Wiring or ECU. Short of isolating all the wiring and checking for shorts / opens and replacing the AFM and ECU, I see little other remedies.
Maybe go through this: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/AFM/index.shtml
For the TPS, try the cheap adjustment trick- loosen the TPS and rotate it back and forth until you hear the idle change both faster and slower, then lock it down just at the point where the idle speed lowest. Now go through the procedures to adjust your timing down to the stock setting, which I believe is 5 BTDC.
Pull the ECU fuse for a minute or so, then plug it in and fire it up. Go see how it drives.

Yeah I may have missed something so never hurts to back step but there is no way at the present to clear the codes almost like there is a short in the wiring somewhere. Pulling the fuse, removing the battery, removed the ecu, tried another afm not RTE meter but still same codes and will not erase. I did pull the covers off of the ecu today also to check for any burns, corrosion or something giving me some direction but still nothing. I am back in the shop now just going back over all my steps 1 at a time. I think most of my problems may be harness related.
