Killer toy tops group buy! Full top/bikini

I'm in Miami so a soft top would be perfect all year round so I've been dying for
a CANBACK but they've been out of production since like 2006 I believe. I was
about to begin a thread for a group buy of some killer toy tops because they
now have a heavy duty framework option that allows a roof rack to be mounted
but while gathering some pictures to put on the thread I saw CANBACK is now officially going back into production. Newer Chevys and Toyotas are being made for delivery in Febuary. I just got off the phone with them and I was ballparked June/July for first gen 4runners. So now Im wondering which group buy would attract more people.

Any thoughts?

There is an email notification list. I take it they will make 1st gen tops if there is enough demand:

I have an original canback. It's shrunk to where if i unsnap it, it won't go back unless i use a heat gun and stretch on it like crazy. A real PITA.

So i copied it and made my own out of sunbrella fabric for like $100. Check 'threads created by me' for a full picture show.

What's the price on this new version? I'd prefer a tan one, but not for $1000

If you follow the "Dealers" link only a place called Truck Candy stocks them for new Tacomas and Chevys. They are $1999 and there is an array of add ons.

Eeek.
I don't know about the rest of you guys but I'm working with a 1989 4Runner. I already stated that they're already producing tips for newer toyotas and Chevys.

Yeah. Pricey but it looks the best IMO. I don't like that they won't sell you just the canvas if yours gets damaged. I know KTT will so I'm going for a killer toy top. They have roof rack options simple top options and bikini options so I'm trying to get a few people to join me in a group buy. Literally all the same options as a canback top plus you can still use your back window with the top. Who's in?

The original canback i have does not use the glass window. Be sure you know what you're getting. If that's different, what else is?

Meanwhile, softopper shows their top in stock for $870. http://www.softopper.com/jeep-suv-tops/toyota-4runner

Soft topper doesn't allow you to run a roof rack. The material also doesn't seem to be as durable as the killer toy tops. KTT has a full top for $970 and a heavy duty version that allows a roof rack for $1,500. Trying to get a group buy going to lower that price for us.

I have an '88 4Rnr. Years ago I bought a Jeep CJ5 Bimini (it is called a bimini top - not bikini) top off eBay for $10. Used a couple pieces of PVC tube and a couple of black bungie cords to make it work. Looks decent. Works fine - even at highway speeds.

It is of little use in the rain but provides great sun protection for rear seat riders while maintaining that open car feel.

I've been working on a Group Buy with TruckCandy on the 1st Gen 4Runner for over a year now. I last helped them a month or so ago to help them with some measurements and schematics in hope it'd get the project back on track, but I didn't have a great experience with them and didn't feel confident they can bring the Can-Back back with a quality and price-point that works.

My black softtopper arrived last week .
