Can an exhust leak affect performance?
I just got my 4Runner back after having the entire clutch assembly replaced and now it has a brutal exhaust leak. It still seems to hesitate a little when you get on the gas. When you are on the gas it seems like there's alot of pressure being released too quickly.
I narrowed it down to an area around the collector.
Any help is appreciated.

Oh yeah....sure it will.
Where is the leak? Header? Manifold? Cat? Muffler? I had hell getting my new exhaust installed. Everything has gotta be SUPER tight, except don't tighten the manifold to the engine too tight! You can strip the holes easy!
Is your leak caused by a hole or just a bad connection? If you have welded pipes, it's probably a hole. Mine was all bolt on....gotta get all the gaskets in there perfect.

sounds like the shop reused the exhaust donuts, which is pretty pointless. they can be had for about $2 each(there's 2 of them), they seal the downpipes to the exhaust manifold. replacing them takes about 30 minutes if you take your time.

Heck yeah...that's the worst spot! lol
That's the hardest connection to get right. The only way I was able to get it "perfect" was to remove that pipe, and remove the exhaust manifold, and connect them out of the truck together, to make sure that I had them perfectly connected.
Then to get it back in the truck, I fed the pipe (with the manifold connected) down through the engine bay. It was kinda hard, since it's a little heavy, lol, but that solved it.
Also, I put a bunch of exhaust sealant gook around the donut gaskets just to get an even better seal when I put it together. Finally, I got rid of the leak and it's been ok since.
I found it really hard to get a good connection trying to connect the y-pipe on the manifold with the manifold on the engine, because it's so hard to get to while on the engine. So I just took it out and connected it!
