That's his shop that I posted the couple of links to. I'm sure he would mind if you emailed him about it. If you do, just tell him that Jason posted the pics and you were interested.
Here is my junk, with the roll bar that I intend to build. Something like this with your "bobbed" Runner would work. I have a write up on my flatbed build somewhere on here; one of my first posts here probably if you want to search:

dude, mount some pickup jump seats to the tailgate (maybe backwards) so that in a pinch, you can roll the rear window down (do you have a window? doesn't matter....) pop open the tailgate, and seat 4...comfortably. now that's redneck ingenuity. except that rednecks prolly don't know what ingenuity means....

I think that putting that fiberglass cap on and tailgate and crap would be alot of work, why not just get a sheet of lexan and using it to cover the hole? That way you could sell the cap and tailgate. If you wanted it removable, you could use a roll of weatherstripping and use some wing-nuts and bolts to hold the sheet of lexan on. That would be a cheap option and you could keep the visibility and I doubt anyone has done that, what do you think?

It'd be alot more work to make a pickup cab into a fold-down-able rear. Plus I'll have more room in the back of the cab than an extended cab, the versatility of a flatbed, and the just plain awesomeness of bein one of the few to have done this. I think it looks drop dead sexy, so I'm doin it.

Don't "ruin" a 4runner? Some people would argue spending hundreds of dollars to wreck a perfectly good vehicle (chopped up or not) on some rocks and trees and deep water "ruining"!.........and idiocy. I mean, is what he is doing much different that what hundreds of people have already done on this forum and others?
Have fun Swampthing. It's what it's all about.
(Imagine....Swampthing....with a bobjob! Use any Dow silicon in that project and you could file for a lawsuit! lol)

Ok, well I've decided I probably aint gonna make the rear removable. The tailgate will still fold down, but the top aint gonna be comin off no more.
I've got all my cut lines marked on the truck, but I have to ask a friend if I can borrow one of their sawzalls. Forgot I caint use mine no more, my pops commandeered it for cuttin up deer when we go huntin at the ranch...

It'd cauterize it, but yeah I'm sure you could cut it... If I can split a deer with a blunt front end replacement goin 70mph, I'm sure a couple thousand degree arc of fire could cut threw a deer.
Oh yeah, I got some swivle seats from a pontoon boat I scrapped that I was plannin to make a quick mountin system for. Cause yeah I agree, the jumpseats idea was great! I just think swivel chairs would be even more fun and accident prone (which are one in the same)
