A/C, what potential problems?

I'm looking at buying an 86 4x4 with 22re. The A/C has not been run in a long time and does not work. The owner says it needs a new compressor. OK, that's $300. But will that be all it needs? I'm suspicious that if the ac has been dead for a long time, all the seals are probably shot and I will be looking at a lot more than just the compressor. Am I right? Other than the compressor and a recharge, what else might need to be replaced to get the AC back up and running? Gimme a worst and best case scenario. Thanks.

Change the filter drier and flush the whole ac system out.

Pardon my ignorance... Can you please explain the flushing procedure? Flush with what and how? And the filter drier, is it one of those canister types? Thanks.

Most ac shops that service automotive ac flush the system with a special chemical that cleans out whatever is in the system. The filter drier looks like a tall can of beer. You change the unit its non-servicable!!!
