A/C problems @ idle

Hey guys, Newbie here...I have purchased a 1994 Toyota pickup with the 2.4 22re engine...efi. The problem I have is the ac compressor cuts off @ idle. I noticed the dash pot at the throttle linkage has no screw in it and it looks in bad shape. Could that be my problem...Ac is cold and works great when above idle.
Thanks

The dash pot really has nothing to do with the AC. Actually it only allows the engine to return to idle slowly and smoothly. Something to do with emissions. The compressor is getting old and wearing out. Might try upping the idle a bit to allow the compressor the added rpm to cool.
