A/C Idle Up Troubleshooting
I just bought a brand new A/C idle up valve that screws into the side of the intake manifold. Hooked it up and cold NOT get the idle to move up at all with the A/C ON. I suspected the magnet valve but I removed both lines from the electronic valve which is plugged in and tried adjusting the Idle Up valve to no avail. Any idea what could be going on here? Hard to believe a brand new Idle Up valve direct from the Toyota dealer is inoperative.
I even unscrewed the adjuster piece and removed it completely. This led to a huge vacuum leak which I was aware would happen, but couldn't get the RPM to bump up at all. I'm at a loss here...any suggestions?

Just did some troubleshooting and I found something very odd. With Key-On and A/C button in the OFF position I get 4~5v at the connector to the VSV. With the A/C button ON the volts drop to 0(zero). WTF?? I started it up and unplugged the VSV and jumped it to 12v and voila!! Worked perfectly!!
So...my question is why am I getting voltage at the VSV connector with the A/C button in the OFF position?? And NOT getting voltage when the A/C button is engaged??
I thought of maybe switching the wires around but I don't think that would do any good as it is just a connection in a completed circuit, I'm not sure though.
I also did some looking around and found the VSV troubleshooting guide so I did that and it is fine. Jumped it to 12v and can hear it clicking and checked the airways and they are normal and as designed to be under power and no power. Also ohm'd it out and it's with in parameters at 42 ohms (@200k). So the VSV valve is working perfectly.
Anyway...any clue how to get voltage at the connector with the A/C ON? Is there some jumper/dip-switch setting on the A/C amplifier to make this happen?

Yea...it's adjusted perfectly. It's just that the connector for the VSV gets power with the A/C in the OFF position, when it should be getting power with it in the ON position...it's like it's wired up backwards. It also only gets about 4~5v and I don't know if it should be getting full 12v at the connector for the VSV.

Got sick of trying to figure out why the VSV wouldn't get 12v when the system is ON. I made my own harness and tapped into the compressor power wire. Works like a charm.
