A/C Help Please 89 Pickup

I need some help if anybody knows about the a/c on my 89 v6 pickup. The a/c switch light does not come on, I assumed it just wouldn't until recharged so today I bought a retrofit kit for 134a at the parts store and hooked it up and it will not pull any 134a out of the can, the compressor still won't engage. I don't know where the fuses or relays are for the compressor. Still have the can on, gonna go look again for the fuses or relay. Please help I'm melting.

bypass the lower presure switch and see if it will come on, if the presure is to low in the system the compressor will not come on.

dude seriously? you cant just mix R134a and R12 together. you need to recover the system first, retrofit the enitre system with new hoses and components, evac it and then recharge it.

The fuses you are looking for are way up behind the dash on the passenger side. You have to take the bottom part of the dash off for easy access. I think it is a 10mm bolt on the lower right corner (just below the speaker grill) and 3 or 4 screws above the glove box. There is also one more screw on the lower left side of that panel near the ashtray I think. Once you get those all out the bottom right half of the dash will come off easy and you can acess the fuse box.

Hope this helps. Took me forever to find it too.
