Has anyone tried taking an a/c fan from another truck and installing it as an extra cooling fan for trail riding on a rig with no a/c? I have a couple sitting on the parts trucks and I was wondering if anyone has tried this?

 

just get a fan that screws onto the dash, like the old schoolbuses have

 

Dude, I was talking about cooling the rad with the 14" electric a/c fan. It would look REALLY funny on the dash. LOL

 

Does your truck get hot during trail runs. You do live in Canada where I doubt you see very hot days and living in Colorado I've wheeled where it's near 100F and I've never even seen my temp needle go any higher than it does under normal driving. I do use a bottle of Redline's Water Wetter for a little help in cooling and the stuff works.

 

It couldn't hurt... My truck normally runs with the needle about 1/3 of the way up, but if I let her sit and idle for about 10 minutes, or get off on a trail creeping, she'll work her way all the way up to 3/4 of the way over and start run'n like crap, then I have to just shut it off and let it cool down. I'm looking into installing dual fans in a push/pull setup; one that automatically comes on as the truck heats up, and the other that either always comes on with the A.C., or I can override it if the truck starts to run abnormally warm.

I've heard a lot of guys use the fans out of Ford Taurus's for some reason; not sure if it's because they fit with little mods, or if they cool very well; but I'm gunna be using 2 brand new aftermarket fans. The bigger the better; not sure how big of ones you can fit on a stock rad, maybe 18".

 

thanks, I thought the yota ac fan would be an easy install and just a little extra protection but I can't seem to run power to them direct and get them to work, is there a realy or someting in the system that may change something? I will keep trying as it is a free mod that can't hurt.
