Does anyone know where you can buy the lower a arms bump stop for a 1986 2wd pickup?

 

any auto parts store that sells energy suspension stuff should sell some that work. its just a single stud bump stop.

http://www.suspension.com/Bumpstop.htm I am not positive but I believe its the 9.9102 you may need to search for it. Its showing $9.00 for a set of 2 but I believe you need 4 total. Hope this is what your looking for.

 

mine are a double post bump stop and i cant find any that are that way would you recommend just running two single post stops because other wise when you hit the stop it wouldn't be centered and damage it?

 

86yota2wd perhaps since you can't find the type you have or want to put on, you could do a bit of fabrication and mix in some ingenuity to fit your needs.

 

are the 4wd bumpstops the same? I have a pair that you could have for the cost of shipping

 

I bought my low profile bump stops from summitracing.com Oh and before you install them I highly suggest removing your t-bars and make sure your shocks compress enough for the low profile bump stops. I recently removed my t-bars and cycled my front suspension only to find out that my shocks were stopping my upward travel instead of my low profile bump stops, opps. I have a 86 4WD 4runner so yours might be different, but I figured I'd warn you

 

right now the bump stops are preventing me from blowing out the lower shock mounts i previously had hit a small pothole in the road and on that side due to age the bump stop was disintegrated and was missing causing the shock mounts to tear out of the a arm leaving my shock hanging from the top stud so i cranked up my torsion bars a little to get a little more travel and to try to reduce the possibility of this reoccurring but it happened again while i was driving up a dirt road in a canyon i was wondering if the torsion bars to wear out like leafs because i have heard several stories and cant find the truth and i bought some single stud bumpstops and am going to try to see if i can put both down and if not ill be fabrication some stuff

im having some serious issues with my bump stops i have a double post stop and it is smaller than the stops now that are 3/8 and i cant find any smaller i was wondering what to do and if anyone has any advice on what to do?

 

so it's the bump stop's fault the shock blew out?

a 2wd truck doesn't have lower a-arms.

 

well not "A arms, but it does have a lower "control" arm.

 

the shock mount broke off somewhere on the road currently i have a straight piece of steal holding the shock in place until i can fix the one that i found "the spacing is a little to far"

The shock is supposed to slow down the wheel and chassis movement. If you hit a bump so hard the lower shock mount broke and the bump stop disintegrated... I'd say the shock was bad before I blamed the stop.

 

no the lower shock mount broke because there is no bump stop on that control arm and when the suspension cycled the shock was the first thing to hit causing the mount to break and the shocks are brand new pro comp with less than 3000 miles on them they are very stiff compared to the previous shocks i had on they require adequate strength to compress them i believe its my torsion bars that are the cause of this i think they are worn out my ride before was super bad and soggy before switching the shocks but im not an expert and was wondering what the best fix is
