Bought another 4Runner, Goodbye RustRunner

This weekend we are beginning the transfer of my complete engine, transmission, diif., transfer case, suspension roof basket/lights ARB front bumper and winch and the rear bumper and swing arm tire carrier from the old green '91 RustRunner on to a clean rust free '92. Hope to have the swap complete by Sunday night. Here are the old and new vehicle pictures. I will post up when we are complete.

What are your plans for the 91 after you are done? I don't believe I've seen a red 1st generation all modded up, looks good !!!

I was thinking the same thing. I think I remember someone pondering buying that one or a Land Cruiser, could be wrong.

I think the red one has a blown motor and an auto tranny. If I remember right someone else on this forum was talking about picking it up and fixing it. I remember him talking about picking it up for like $1500 or something. Anyway, it should be awesome once all the stuff is swapped over.

Strap22: Whats wrong with the green one? From what I can see it looks relatively clean and straight.

ahh, the joys of working at a dealership, access to all those cool tools and lift! not to mention a bunch of techs that are probably drooling over getting a chance to put more of their training to use.

good luck phil, let us know the final tally of hours spent.

Didn't do it at the dealership. We are doing at Valkyrie's place. That is were most of the wrench-a-thons are done for the club. Without the help of all these guys it would cost too much to do.

ding ding ding! give the man a prize

I was looking at it for a possible fixer upper. (had bad HG 3vze) When i talked to the guy that had it in the STL area he was wanting to part it out and the sell-it-whole option was more than i was wanting to spend for yet antother fixer upper project

so strap, when did you pick it up and can we ask how much you got it for complete? how did you get it home?

(note im farily shure strap contacted me via PM and asked for the sellers info which i gave him... always willing to pass along a deal if im not going to take advantage of)

You are correct, it did have a blown head gasket. As for how I got it .....he actually sold it to a friend of mine in our club and he went and picked it up. He than decided it was too nice to strip out for what he needed and we made a deal to swap it out with my old RustRunner. I am not sure if I PM'd you on this but my guess is it was the guy I bought it from. As for the price let's just say it was very reasonable. The beer and food to get everything changed over will cost more.
