bolting on tow hooks in place of tie down points?
Can you bolt on OEM tow hooks to the factory rear tie down points on the frame? I have a OEM bumper, no plans to upgrade that in the near future, no tow hitch, but I want to be able to pull another truck out of whatever, and I know my tie downs risk breaking.

yes
That was simple
You are only as strong as the weakest link. Make sure the frame is in good shape, the nut inserts are in good shape, and you use good bolts. No name bolts from autozone will not cut it. Its will not be as strong as a bumper mount with only two bolts so take it easy on it.

I had a closer look under the truck a minute ago. The OEM tow hitch is (was) bolted to the frame farther back, so I'm guessing its pretty strong. The tie-down is welded on but doesn't look strong. Two possible routes:
1. Cut of the tie downs, drill into the frame and install hooks.
2. use the existing holes from the tow hitch and bolt on hooks instead.
