i bet this topic has been to death many times. i have a question for you guys with a 3 inch body lift that did stuff so their shifter will stay in gear. i have the sr5 style truck so the shifter boot is completely different, made of leather or vinyl. what are the tricks so that the truck can shift properly? ive searched and cant find people that showed pics what they did to their shifter.

your shifter is probably hiting the sheet metal under the boot and will require a little triming, you might also have to move the boot around to get it to work. your other option is to cut and re-weld the shifter in a position that allows it to work. the hard core thing to do would be to lift your motor/trans/transfercase up, it would give you more ground clearance at the t-case and fix your problem.

It's more like short-throw shifter....don't have to get up to shift to 5th gear.

take off the leather boot and the plastic center console around it and you will see that you have the same rubber shift boot as the regular guys...

IF you guys want to do large body lifts, go to 4crawler.com and research his website. He has all the stuff you need for the big body lifts, bumper brackets, radiator brackets, shifter extensions, etc.

It's all there. Go read.

yeah i see it my last truck was a 91 standerd cab with a 3 in body lift and didn't need any of that...maybe a bumper bracket???.... yeah it woulda been nice but...do i need them??

Every truck is different...but with shorter body lifts they are all the same...that is why I deal only with 1" body lifts...makes it simple.

Yep, some folks do big body lifts, nothing wrong with that although personally I don't. I stick with a 1" body lift cause I just want some extra body to frame clearance for issues like plumbing, wiring and dual cases. Makes some things much easier to work on and with.

OR you could do the perfect Bl, the 2", not too little, not too much, just right. Not only wiring but room for when you decide to design a sub box that works well and isn't in the cab except for the cubby area, hiding train horns, mounting the top eyelets of shock higher, for when you do the 4.3 or 3.4 swap, etc etc.

I cut and welded in the 3" extensions as per the Performance accessories instructions (at the base, befor they bend). I then bent the shifter slightly up and to the left to clear the t-case shifter.

To get all my gears (I was having issues with 4th and reverse) I simply inverted the inner hard rubber boot. The pleather sr5 boot covers it all back up Been working flawless for almost 2 years now..

I got a 5in sus lift, and a 3in body lifet with 33`s I want to get a set of 35`s for offroading. Would you guys suggest taking it completely off or cutting the pucks in half and doing a 1.5in? Where would I get new rubber bushings? Sorry toask in your thread but didnt want to start a new one.

keep it like it is, unless you want to beat/trim for tire clearance.
