Blown Head Gasket?? 1991 22re

I have a 22re that will start up great and run perfectly normal for about 15minutes, once warmed up it starts burning extreme amounts of coolant and steams out the exhaust badly. I know it sounds like a head gasket, just hoping there was a simpler fix.

Also would like opinions on the work. Truck has 230,000 on it and had the head fully rebuilt at about 185K. It was then reassembled with a new HG and timing chain. The truck ran smooth and had no noise in the valve train at all. It never got hot, so I wanted to see opinions on just slapping a new gasket under the head and going about it on a budget, but I hate to be stupid about it.

Sounds like a gasket. If it were me I would just put a new gasket in and call it a day. Get a good gasket (ENGBLDR) or dealer. No NAPA/Pepboys crap.

I'm leaning toward that route as well. I think a cheap gasket is what caused this.

With two buddies and a case of Keystone you could get that done in about 2 hours. Overall an easy job, just time consuming with one person.

I would have to disagree with you on that one. The more beer you have the longer it will take.

head gasket

i disagree there, if you are on a budget there is nothing thats going to be wrong with a gasket from a napa or pepboys, most likely you got a warped head or block and it needs machining.
