Bilstein Shock question....
Hey all ive searched and yielded no results that give me a deffinite answer. I just ordered a set of Bilstein HD's and im goin to be lifting my truck in about a month or so when i get the rest of the money. The thing is that my stockers suck something awful so i was wondering even with a little sag in the rear should the new shocks be ok to put on now and then lift my truck in a month or so. I know its prolly a stupid question but im 17 and only make 7.50 an hour so 256 dollars for the shocks is a lot and im just making sure im not going to blow them with the little sag in the rear before i lift it.. thanks for your help!!
the lift is OME 901HD's and BJ spacers if that helps

I think you should be fine. I did the same setup on my '91. I'm real pleased so far with the results.
I haven't had it off road yet, so can't give you any feedback offroading.

If the shocks that you got are designed for stock ride height then they will be too short when you put your lift on. If you got the longer ones for when your lift goes in then you should be OK. Do a search on past threads that I have started about the lift & shocks setup - there is some good info there

Yea but the lifted shocks are for a 4 inch lift. This lift im getting is 1.5" to 2". Wouldn't the 4" lifted shocks be tooo compressed for a 2" lift??? Toddski does it feel like your shocks are too extended??

exactly it doesn't make sense to put 4 inch lift shocks on a 2" lift truck..but still my original question hasn't been deffinetly answered. The bilstein HD's i assume are for 0-1" and i have a slight sag (not nearly as bad as some guys only about an inch sag) and i wanted to know if it was ok to put them on now or would they be too compressed till i got my lift??

If the shocks you have now are for a stock truck they will work for you sag as well.
BUT
If they are for a stock truck they will not work when you put in the OME's & BJ spacers. I tried to use stock shocks & they bottomed out going over any bumps. I still have the front as stock shocks but I relaxed my torsion bars so I only ended up with .75" lift in the front - and they still bottom out.

im confused why you didnt get the correct shocks for your lift: 1.5" lift=shocks for a 1.5" lift; 4" lift= shocks for a 4" lift; stock truck= stock size shocks

Yea i get you on that but the thread on here about the Downey HD coils and the Bilstein HD shock install says its fine. Bob installed the stock Bilstiens with his lift and has had no problems on bottoming. So i don't know. The downey's and the ome coils give the same lift.
