I spent a month looking for my truck on The List. I looked at AutoTrader once, but the fact that it's mostly dealers made me shy away from it

Cars.com seems to be a glorified newspaper classified. I didn't like the way it made every thing seem impersonal. Most everything was "I have a truck with X amount of miles, call me." I don't like wasting time, that why i like the List. If it's a good seller, they can put everything that they need to in one listing.

I plan on another honda civic or a toyota corolla or something as my DD, I wanted to make my 4runner into a mean street machine, but 3.09+ dollars a gallon has made me change my mind to it being my DD. My dad just bought a toyota corolla for 1k in pretty good condition.

I've searched cars.com but most of them are dealers and refuse to put prices on anything so when you type in your budget, you have to wade through all those dealer ads.

my .2c

the jettas are good cars, i have nothing against them, however if something were to happen, or maitence work such as a timing belt, good luck workin on it! VW's are a whole nother planet when working on them. and not to mention a little pricey.

personaly im looking twards a honda civic for a DD. my friend just bought a 00' civic. good lookin and runnin car. she gets 30mpg around town driving like a maniac. plus you can get a new engine for $400 from japan with 30,000 miles. they are pretty easy to work on, we have swapped out an engine for a v-tec in two days, one out, one in.

hopefully this helps a little!

You could get an older lexus like a 93-97 gs300 or a 90-95 lexus LS ... both of these cars could fit the 5 seater requirement and are reliable. Additionally, the lexus gs300 uses the 2jz engine which is swapable with the supra TT engine if you ever wanted insane power outta the family hauler.
