Belts on a 3.slow...

Any tricks to speed up the process?

I've never done it on this particular motor, but its usually a 20 minute job if everything goes wrong from experience on other motors

I'm gonna do mine this sunday.... any tricks to make it smoother?

I wish I could change all of the belts on my 22RE in 20 minutes- the alternator always gives me fits.

its so easy doing the belts if you dont have a/c. looks like last owner got rid of the system . i just use a stick to tighten the belts and i hold it at the same spot to tighten the bolts.

Most of the newer cars im used to doing them on.... its just one big ol' belt.

maybe im spoiled and will actually have to put some time in effort into this one.

I changed my belts a month ago. No need to remove the fan at all. I took off the upper portion of the fan shroud & not even sure if I needed to do that. You will need to loosen the alternator bolts , power steering pump bolts & the A/C belt will come loose with the idler pulley on the bottom. It's actually very easy but looks like it would be a PITA! The belt will slip right over the fan.

Good luck

You don't have to loosen the PS pump..theres an idler/tension pulley on that system (22re)...

I did the belts on my truck a few months ago. its a '92 3vz v6 w/o A/c

the belts slide over the fan without removing anything at all.

loosen up the alternator and the power steering pump and remove and replace. it helps to have a friend that can hold the tension on the alternator and ps pump while you tighten up the bolts, so you get good tension on the belt.

I had both changed in 10 mins.
