Phil,

As Mike said, you guys have the best price I have found on the OME shocks/steering dampener and I was just about to order the shocks from you when Mike questioned whether the N98s were the best application for our trucks with the BJ spacers installed. Have you tested your OME N98s to see if the shock is limiting travel with the BJ spacers in?

Oh yea, cold PA weather?!?!? its supposed to be 60 tomorrow!

OK, the N98's are the real deal for up front.

The rear seems to be another matter. I need to check into the N146 shock. It has the right length and travel, but the bottom eye dimension concerns me a little. Another option is using a pin to eye bracket, but I need to find out what the dims are on those.

I am using a Pin to Eye bracket on the rear end of mine with my 1.5" HD's. I am not sure what vehicle my shocks are off of but I would like to get some longer ones, because I think the ones im running are limiting drop....

How much do the N98's run for a set?
Thanks

OME N98's are for the front (and have the same travel as the Rancho 5167's) Email Strap22 at his EM above and include your zip for a shipped quote.

The rear shocks stated as N72F will definitely limit droop too. As far as I've been able to gather, the OME N72F's give up almost 4 3/4" of droop compared to the Rancho 5009's. I'm trying to figure out the OME and Bilstein options for this setup

Can you measure the Pin to Eye Bracket to determine how much I need to subtract from the shock length? (If memory serves, I thought the dim was like an inch) I have the dims of the Rancho parts and they are pin top/eye bottom. I want to figure out an eye top/bottom shock application for the rear.

Thanks!!

Thanks Mike,
I would be happy to get a quote out for 914runner. When I get to the office in the morning I'll post it for him.

The stock rear coils and shocks from my '96 LX450 are on a buddy's '90 Runner, the shocks look a little long but have not had a chance to measure them yet, they ride nice on the street. If you are looking for cruiser coils here is a free set:

Mike,

If you can find those hubs I need them!! The pair of Aisins I bought from a guy I met at the East Coast 4Runner Jamboree were 30 spline and they don't fit

I didn't even notice this until I tried installing them last night.

Help front end feels really slippy!!!! I just posted this reply in an Aisin Manual Hub thread but I'm trying to get more coverage so forgive me if this sounds familiar...

I have to get some manual hubs on quick! I swear, as I'm driving around town, it feels like the front tires are skidding/sliding whenever I drive over one of those steel plates that separates a bridge deck from the normal road surface. With the snow we just got, I feel the same thing on snowy/icy patches. I must have a LOT of resistance in the front driveline after adding the BJ spacers to have the wheels skid on slippery surfaces. Anybody else notice this?!?

I took off each front wheel and the hubs turn with some resistance (brakes dragging on the rotor) but nothing out of the ordinary.

Maybe I'm just being paraniod b/c the truck handles differently with the BJ spacers. What do you guys think?

Sorry Bill didn't see your post until now. I'll give you mine and you can order a set from Jason Liskey to replace them. I'll be downtown today and will drop them at your office.

I don't think the BFG Muds are helping matters for you either...

Bill, Sorry I just read this I have been in meetings all day. I had the same feeling when I added the BJ spacers and the T-bars cranked up too much. I forgot about that, I changed to manual hubs right away and I also had the front end aligned and that made it feel like I thought it should. How much angle do you have on your CV's? Can you crank them down anymore? Let me know how this works out for you.

Has anyone come up with the parts #'s for bilstein or ome shocks that are comparable to the Rancho 5009's for the rear? Are there any?

The OME's require a shock conversion bracket for anything of a reasonable length. I have the application chart, just haven't had a chance to work out the details yet.

Bilstein now sells a shock conversion bracket with some of their applications. I have a couple of messages into Shane who handles the Off Road products.

Here's the info so far:

RANCHO

Front (Rancho 5167)
Compressed: 10.25"
Extended: 15.25"
Travel: 5"

Rear (Rancho 5009)
Compressed: 15.63"
Extended: 26.25"
Travel: 10.63"

BILSTEIN

Front (tbd)
Compressed:
Extended:
Travel:

Rear (tbd)
Compressed:

OME

Front (N98)
Compressed: 9.80"
Extended: 15.31"
Travel: 5.51"

Rear (tbd)
Compressed:
Extended:
Travel:

I will add the information as I receive it to this post. When complete, I'll make a downloadable PDF.

Thanks for taking the time to figure all of this out Cebby! It really is quite helpful!

Now not to get off track, but I have the stock steel rims with 4.5" BS (I think) and I am running 32 X 11.50's on them. Do you think they would rub on the UCA with the BJ spacers? if so do you think a set of 1" wheel spacers from Marlin would cure this?
Thanks

Do you mean can I crank down the torsion bars to reduce the angle on the CVs? I haven't done that because I'm going to be installing an ARB bumper and a Warn M8000 winch this coming weekend along with the OME front shocks and steering dampener I bought from you. I'm sure the winch/bumper combo will bring the front end back down some and I'll get it aligned after. Right now, the front end of my truck is so high, it looks like a jet trying to take off.

Cebby,

Do you happen to have a pickle fork I can use to replace the steering dampener?
