Bad Converter?

I have a 94 4runner with an A340H tranny, I was driving down 95 yesterday everything going fine then all the sudden she starts down sifting all the way and lose power pull off stop and she shuts off and is overheated. let her cool off starts up and revs up fine but when in gear moves but has no power, kinda like its slipping. Im thinking bad converter or converter cluctch is starting to go. I know if ur converter is completely bad you truck wont move at all and that y im thinking converter clutch? any thoughts?

Bad day dude, sorry hear youre having problems with your tranny. I would pull up an FSM and start looking at the troubleshooting sections.

Best advice i can give, 5 speed swap it. It is VERY worth it.

Ya i made the mistake of putting another auto tranny in mine too. Got it right the 3rd time though haha. I see your problem, its not always easy to do the tests in the way they do. Cant you do a converter stall test to see if your TC is going out? check for that test in the fsm, maybe that'll do it.

Does your OD/ off light work?

" When the computer detects a mechanical or speed sensor problem, it goes into a "limp home" or failsafe mode. It will defaut into 3rd gear (direct drive) and the OD light will flash."
