auto trans stuck in 3rd?

This is on a 87 4x4 Toyota truck and I believe is the A340H auto trans

Problem is it hardly moves when I put it in drive. It's like it's stuck in 3rd gear. I can manually put it in low and two and then into drive and it's fine but it never down shifts

also the Eco and overdrive buttons dont seem to do anything or even light up

any ideas?

Also the fluid level is fine but I have heard it can clog?

Thanks!

Bad shift solenoids. Here is a write-up I did a few years ago. Even has links for where to get the new solenoids.

Interesting.. I found the "limp home" info, which does describe my situation except that I've not seen my cosole lights on at all (maybe unplugged? no matter what I do they don't light up)

It's been a while since I've been in a 340, but are all the solenoids identical including the one in the transfer case? I need to replace all of mine. They are getting really annoying.

Had the same problem as you. And I replaced solenoids and fixed the problem
