Auto trans help please
91 4Runner 3.0 Auto
I know the trans is on its last leg. Here are the symptoms:
Very bad slippage when taking off from dead stop/low speeds.
Usually only when its hot.
Burnt trans fluid smell when it slips.
Trans fluid is pink but does have brown deposits in it.
This is kinda strange to me: The guy I bought it from said it didnt slip or shift funny. (truck wasnt running when I bought it)
When I first got it running it was slipping. Check fluid cold, it was at the top of the hot marks.
Checked fluid hot, right at the top of the hot marks.
Why no difference?
The radiator was removed but I didnt have to add any trans fluid. ???? Could the cooler be clogged?
I need a temporary quick fix to allow me to limp it around till I round up all my parts for a manual trans swap. (a week or so)
So what works??
Lucas, BG, motor oil,
I hate to even say this one but.... sawdust???
Sorry so long. Any inputs would be great.

Dude , count your losses . No matter what TEMP fix you might come up with , that thing is going to leave you stuck on the side of the road ,and then you'll have a tow charge on top of it all. If your fluid smells burnt and it slips then it's fried. Dont try half assing something thats already half assed.
If it were me I would contact the person you bought it from and have them come over for a test drive to explain whats what ,and then discuss some form of compensation.

Drive it till it dies! You said you only need it for a week or so anyways. The auto trannys on these are pretty stout even with the burnt fluid and some slippage I bet you could get pretty far with it. It is still a Toyota.
