Auto trans

So I have started having trouble with the way my truck shifts it will go through 1-2 quick then I'm lucky if it will shift to third but if it does it very rarely shifts to OD I was reading a post on here about a lockdown cable I believe is what it's called and I adjusted it but it's starting to move the sheath not the cable what's y'all's input on this

That's not it.

There is no "lockdown" cable. Much older (all hydraulic) transmissions had a "kickdown" cable which would delay upshifts when the throttle was depressed. While I don't know what vehicle you have (is it a Toyota? Of any kind?), you probably have a "throttle cable" which ONLY affects how "hard" the transmission shifts. The shift points themselves are all controlled by the computer.

Have you run the transmission diagnostics? You'll help yourself a lot if you tell us the vehicle you are driving AND the transmission you have (look on the door pillar).
