Auto to standard swap

Hey i'm thinking about picking up an 86 auto 4 runner that needs a motor and torque convertor. It comes with the pedels and a new clutch. I have a motor and lots of 5 speed trannys.

Would i be able to put a w56 tranny and tcase out of a 90 pickup in the 4 runner? Would the driveshafts and everything line up? Is there any electrical i would have to change or do anything with?

Ecu is not needed. You can simply jump the Neutral Safety switch. I did the swap a few months ago. Fairly easy to do

All you need to do is add the clutch peddle and the clutch master cylinder, and hard line. You will also need a fly wheel and clutch. The transmission will bolt up, but im not sure on the drive shafts. You can use the stock computer, but you remove the computer for the automatic transmission, its located below the radio in front of the shifter. The only wiring required is to jump the neutral safety, you unplug the wiring for the automatic transmission just above the starter and thats were you jumper the neutral safety switch wires. My 86 4Runner has a manual swap, if you have any questions let me know.

If your going to junk the auto trans, would you be willing to sell the wiring thats on the trans, from were you unplug it from the truck to the back up light switch ?. if so would you pm me and let me know

So the tranny from the pickup will work? What about the wiring on the tranny for the reverse lights and stuff. Will there be plug ins on the 4 runner for that? Also what about the cross member for the tcase? I know when i put the w56 in my truck in place of the g58 the crossmembers were different.

I would probably get rid of the wiring if i do the swap. The 4 runner is in really good shape for an 86 around here, because it came from out west where theres no salt. I would just keep the auto in it if i bought but it has 35's on it so i can see it being pretty gutless, although buddy says it pushes the tires pretty good.

I believe the crossmembers are the same, just the rubber mount is different
