Hi, I have a 1994 Pickup Base model with the I4 engine and, I believe, the A43D Auto 2WD Transmission (I know Auto 2WD, guessing A43D based on what I have read). Long story short i am being charged $1800 for a transmission repair so I would like to just buy a used transmission and replace it myself.

My question is this. On ebay I am able to find the matching transmission for ~$600 + Shipping that is "Compatible." I am also able to find the A43D Transmission out of older model pickup trucks for much less. Are these Compatible.

Basically, are all A43D transmissions the same, or do the vary by year / model truck they go in, etc? If they do Vary, which am I able to use?
