Argh - Broken alternator adjuster arm - 22RE
So I get the truck out of storage and I hear a squeal...
Hmm - loose fan belt.
I take a look - all three belts are "flappin".
I look at the alternator - its maxed out of the adjustment.
Its an upgraded 120amp Nippondenso alt from Wrangler Power Products.
I get new belts from Dayco (aka Pep Boys - its all that was open, close by and had the belts in stock) and...
The alt isnt tight enough - its flappin.
Now I have had a stock belt on there for ages - so its not the setup.
Take a closer look... ooops - the bracket is cracked.
I look up the Dayco catalog and get a "slightly smaller" belt (1/2" shorter) and hope that it puts the belt in a place where its not broken until I can order a bracket.
I tried a 1" shorter belt - but that one I cant get the belt on because the alt case it "larger" and wont tip towards the block enough (and yes I had the WP pulley off).
Oh well...
Hope it holds until I get the spare bracket and the OEM alternator out of the storage barn...
