anyone building a 2 wd street machine?

I haven't seen many 2wd toyota street trucks, however I did find a new site geared towards this topic.

I don't have a 4x4 anymore and thought this site was what I was looking for and combined with yotatech I can get the best of both worlds...

not many categories yet, but looks to have a good start. I also have this link in my sig

I'm running a stock 2wd rig but I still tend to stay here because the knowledge base is quite long. For lowering and handling ya definitely have to look somewhere else and toyotaminis is where I've been looking.

Unless you have to register to see anything it doesn't look like yotastreetmachines has much going on either.

I agree with the knowledge base here too and the yotastreetmachines just was created, so that's why I became a member and are spreading the word. I think in time more folks will visit and become part of that community.

I also belong to toyotaminis too, however other than the content to search, the place is dead, not much action at all.

thanks for the input! I appreciate it!

I started using Toyotaminis when I got my 75 Hilux. It's pretty quiet over there, but I've been pretty active in posting just so it's not so dead (I go by Perkolator). It's also the only forum I really see any old Hilux builds on.

I think the overall problem is that every year these trucks get older and older, more get taken off the road and less people post up builds for them. Just look at the East coast, these trucks just don't exist over there since everything rusts away so fast.

edit: you think it's hard finding active forums for Toyota 2wd pickups??? try finding ANYTHING online for a 1968 Oldsmobile other than a Cutlass/442. For my Delmont 88 there is literally only a small handful of documented anything regarding them online, zero aftermarket parts support for the car and all parts must come from donors.

I read through that whole thing and I like what you did, nothing crazy. I hope to do pretty much do what you have done.
The only thing I would question is the movement of the battery and air inlet. After reading through jennygirl's build it appears to have created a slight problem. She does have an earlier year and I wonder if maybe that has something to do with it.

Thanks for checking it out. The idea behind the battery intake swap is cooler air that travels less of a distance before reaching the throttle body. On a stock setup the air travels from the drivers side over the hot radiator and then finally the throttle body. This is basically just a shorter cooler route. I did this about 3 years ago I believe. Have not had a problem since. What kind of problems is she experiencing? A link to the thread?
