any good clutch writeup's

for an '87 5sp 4x4?? or who's book is the best. i know there are probably 100 different variations to pulling the tranny /x-fer case etc. any tips before i get started would be appreciated.

I have a tranny jack, and 1 set of jack stands so far. i have a compressor- do i need an impact wrench?? I would rather buy tools then pay someone else to do this...

thanks guys...

its not hard

i've never done a clutch on a car or truck and just replaced mine on an 85 two weeks ago. took me and a friend 6hrs so it wasn't a record but its pretty straight forward. just start unbolting crap. don't need an impact wrench. two things that went wrong with mine... crused/cracked the throw out bearing trying to press that casting in there so i just ended up reusing my old one (which looked fine) and, sheered one of those bolts holding the clutch in so go easy on those.... i never had the torque specs but i'd say those are like 8lbs, not much at all. (it was a pain, i had to drill it out). anyways, it was a fun job, satisfying and rewarding. especially the saving $300 part and hanging out with a buddy working on cars part.
