Anti Lock Light

Anti Lock Light
90 T4r, auto 4x4, SR5
Past couple years the dash anti lock light stays on, replaced front pads and rear shoes and bled the system. Read replacing or cleaning rear sensor may correct the issue. I have removed a #12mm bolt and the sensor retaining clip but I have only gotten a slight gap between the sensor and the axle, curious if I am missing a step; perhaps jack the rear wheels off the ground, etc. In the past week this is my 2nd attempt, stopped because I as fearful of forcing and causing some serious damage, another althernative would be to leave well enough alone and place tape over the anti-lock light?
