anti freeze just leaked out all onto the ground

I just came home from the park, my truck was running perfect, anyways I pull in to my driveway with the window rolled down and I start hearing a really weird noise. I put it in park, pop the hood and get out to inspect what it could be. Anyways I see all my anti-freeze from the radiator spilling onto the ground. I mean ALL of it came out. Then it started smoking like crazy so i had to get the house and squirt it all over the radiator.

Anyways, the leak is from the bottom i know that for sure. So what could have caused this to happen? I have no experience whatsoever on this stuff so bare with me.

Also my truck is a 1988 2WD toyota pickup 22RE.

Thanks,

John

Yeah I'd say you blew a hose. In the future, not a good idea to blast a hot engine or anything for that matter, with cold hose water. You could make things a lot worse.

I didnt blast the engine, what I did was when the hood was closed I squirted the grill with water because smoke was coming out and that immediently stopped it.

Also another question, is a blown hose the only cause of this? Could it have something to do with the thermostat?
Tell me what I should replace and ill replace it doesnt matter how much the cost is, i just dont want this happening again in the future.

Might as well replace the thermostat if you haven't done it in a long time.

just replace the hose, hopefully it will be fine.

Hoses get old probably why it ruptured

dont take this the wrong way but untill you actully look it is hard to answer your question. It could be the hose ,it could be a seam leak, could be the tstat, could be the coolant faireys

Funny....my first thought was a stray round from a drive-by shooting got his radiator.

I think when all the coolant rushed out it was proven to be a leak in the system

question. in most american water pumps, when the bearing starts to go in the water pump the seal blows out the back because of heat. is this the same for our yotas'?
