That looks more like a pick-axe wound/hole.

It kind of does form the scratches around it. I've actually been thinking about this for a long time, but I can't bring myself to get rid of the auto antenna. It looks great man, a little elbow grease and patience and you won't even know it was there.

The plastic tube under the fender that the antenna mounts to is broken on mine, I have to remove the fender to fix or replace it, maybe I'll just do what you're doing.

When I painted my junk awhile back, I did the same thing, however I backed the hole with a small piece of 1/4" strap to stablize the sheet metal before welding. Its held up great for years, You will be golden. Looks good, Keep it up!

sorry it took so long, the prison has had me work 14 days straight. the backing wasnt a bad idea, i had trouble getting the antenna out because i dont have the right tool, thats why it looked like shyznit. i used to do sheet metal and paint and body so i know what im doing, the strap is a little much kinda, but it sure as heck isnt going to hurt anything, i havnt been able to get to my yota in the last two weeks so that sucks, i did manage to bust one of the weather cracked tires on a tree stub. lol good times
