alternator questions??

I was having problems with my alternator awhile back on my 94 4x4 toyota pickup v6, so i replaced it:everything was fine for awhile, but now the problem has returned. the little bolt on the side of the alternator that runs to the battery keeps sparking and is even melting the bolt.
i followed that wire and it runs to the positive terminal of the battery.Im thinking that maybe it's suppose to be hook up to the negative, but i wanted to ask the experts before i electricute myself. If i have it hook up right can someone shed some light on some solutions. thanks-a-million

it might be loose or corroded.

This bolt? The one under the orange cover in this photo? If so, it is supposed to run to the positive terminal of the battery via the 80 amp fuse in the fuse block.

The grounding for the alternator happens back through the engine block.

Do not hook that wire up to the negative side of the battery, bad things will happen.

As said above, loose or corroded would be the first place to start.
