Alternator does not charge on a hot day

Any ideas,

Seems that my alternator doesn't like to charge the system when its over 90 deg..

Battery is only a month or so old.. and the alternator is hi-amp 160, about a year old..

alternator getting too hot, causing brushes to not interact?

Dunno, i'm not a huge electrical buff, but i know that electrical motors get too hot and stop working, so maybe find a way to get the temp of the alt?

A. Go get your system tested (i.e. Autozone, etc.)
B. Do you have really hot days now? Running the A/C? I've seen plenty of our fleet vehicles this summer killing their charging system while drawing power while runing the A/C at the same time.

The alt works most of the time, some times the volt meter will drop to the halfway mark, then later decide to go up to the 18 volt mark..

when it clicks on its fine..
