Alternator Brands

Looks like the 26 year old alternator is grumbling a bit. Might be time to start looking at a replacement. The know they can be rebuilt and while I may do that I would like a new piece to put in. I will put the old one rebuilt on a shelf for a rainy day.

Anyone using a aftermarket item they love or swear by. Toyota wants 187 for a replacement but I’m thinking it will be a rebuilt one.

lc engendering wants 299

and mean green 399

I bought a remanufactured denso a few yrs ago. EBay I think. Looked up the part number on denso wrb site and searched the number. I don't know that that will still work. I did as you plan to and kept my old one to rebuild

How is the rebuild holding up ? I don’t have any major light or stereo upgrades so I’m fine with an original piece. However finding a new one proves difficult

I don't drive that pickup all that much, mostly it sits in the garage. I've only put about 5-6 thousand miles on it since I replaced the alt. It's still working fine.

A number of years back I replaced the 2 bearings and brushes in mine, was a pretty easy job. I vaguely remember looking the parts up on one of the major toyota parts outlets then plugging the numbers into google and to find the parts cheaper. I did run into a website the other day that sold rebuild kits for allot of alternators because I was looking to rebuild the one in our old 300zx but just decided to get a reman instead. Cannot remember the site but will post it if I can find it. Think i saved it as a bookmark but not sure on what computer.
I believe the one in my truck is a Denso, not sure the model number.
