Airbox mod for 22RE

Has anyone out there modified/drilled-out the 22RE airbox? I've read the Tech Write-up "Deck-plate mod for the 3rd gen 3.4V6" and "Airbox mod for the 3.0V6" but wondered if these mods work on the 2nd gen 22RE???

The 22RE airbox appears different than what's shown in the Airbox Mod Write-Up for the 3.0. I haven't actually seen a 3vze airbox.

The airbox on the 22re is different in shape. It's rectangular while the 3vze box is circular.

The deckplate mod doesn't apply to the 22re because they have a different air flow metering device and set-up. The drilling out of the air box won't do anything for the 22re except to dirty your air filter faster. Check out the intake/battery swap for the 22re. That would be about the only thing that will do what I'm guessing you want. Even then, it doesn't do a whole lot by itself.

That's what I figured. Seems like a lot of work for not much reward. Thanks all.
