Air Filter Change

Hey Everyone,

Does anyone know how to change the Air Filter in a 91 4Runner?

I looked all over in the forum, but can't find any info..

Thanks!

you wont get many posts to this.. alot of people look at this as and think its a no brain.. (been there so ill help you out guy) I assume u have a 3.0L.. you really need to put your info in your signature! theres a big black box on the end of your intake and sits in the front of your engine bay on the drivers side.. thats where your air filter is.. the top half of the box splits open with some metal tabs holding it down.. flip the tabs back abd pull the top off. pull your filter out.. replace with new one..put the cover back on and snap the tabs in place.. your done..

Where it is probably depends on which engine you have. Mine is located right behind the driver side headlight in a circular box. Thats with the v6. If you have the 22re it may be somewhere else. Either way there will be a large hose going from the airbox to the intake manifold, connecting where your throttle position sensor and linkage is. To get the airbox open there are 3 or 4 metal clips that you have to take off. Some are like a latch and you lift the clip up (or down) to allow a wire to be slipped off, or a spring steel clip that you just have to pry off of the airbox from the side that is not hinged to the airbox. Once you do that you pull off the top of the airbox. Sometimes you can only lift it enough to get the old filter out and the new one in. Some come completely off. Just depends on how the OEM set up the intake hose. Make sure you reattach all the clips when you are done or you may suck unfiltered air into the engine which could damage it in the long run from dust and other particles. Hope this helps.

it is right behind your drivers side head light. there are 3 or 4 clips that you lift up and then(^there it is)you can get at your air filter.
